The bed and breakfast is an attractive Georgian period property set in the centre of the traditional village of Hanley Swan, Malvern. It is ideally located for the Three Counties Showground (1 mile), Upton-upon-Severn (3 miles) and Malvern (4 miles).
Location
Hanley Swan
A traditional English village nestling at the foot of the Malvern Hills
and winners of the Worcestershire Best Kept Village Competition in 2000.
The centre of the village features an attractive pool stocked with water plants
and ducks and holds great appeal for both artists and visitors to the area.
Just across the road is the well equipped stores and the bakery. The local pub,
aptly named The Swan Inn, provides good bar meals, and overlooks the village
green which is complete with an ancient oak tree.
Exploring Malvern
Malvern itself has a lot to offer any visitor to the area. Naturally
the well known Malvern Hills attract visitors all through the year and
are suited for short walks or long treks. Sample the breathtaking views towards
the Black Mountains in Wales, with the rolling Herefordshire
countryside between. It is easy to understand why Elgar gained inspiration for
his works from these Hills. Malvern Theatres have recently reopened following
a multi-million pound refurbishment and now offer high quality shows. The 15th
century Malvern Priory boasts one of the largest stained glass windows
in any parish church. Malvern is the home of the classic Morgan sports
car which is still handmade by the same family using traditional methods. There
are a number of excellent restaurants and pubs in and around Malvern
offering a wide choice of cuisine.
Further Afield
Hanley Swan makes an excellent base for those wishing to explore the
area. To the North just 8 miles away lies the City of Worcester with
its Civil War history, its spectacular Cathedral, its famous Royal Worcester
Porcelain factory shops and an excellent City shopping centre. To the South
is Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester with its historic docks. To the
East is Warwick with its famous castle and Stratford-upon-Avon
with its Shakespearian history. To the West over the Hills lie the market towns
of Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye (the gateway to South Wales
set on the banks of the River Wye). The City of Hereford is just
22 miles with its ancient Cathedral providing a home for the 'Mappa Mundi'.
